We’re sick of knowledge, so we don’t really watch the news.
Let me guess; you’d say – it’s…bad?
Of course, it is. Jaded. Forgotten is the fact that your disinterest is rooted in futility. Had the course of events seemed less inevitable, your avoidance of knowledge would give way to hunger. Then you would devour the news, source items, build a mental model that knows where it’s solid and where it’s provisional, you’d be marking targets, lining up allies, you’d be on a mission. You would look for vulnerabilities and exploit them within the constraints obliged by whichever moral code you’ve adopted. You wouldn’t be careless with information, every single fact is a bullet, and you’d be poised.
