So, finally – when their lackluster attempts at reason fall apart, they tell you it’s just a difference of opinion and that it’s okay to disagree. So yeah, it’s just ‘opinion’…
Well –
It’s my ‘opinion’ that the so-called Supreme Council of the Armed Forces hijacked the revolution with the aid of the Muslim brotherhood, to whom they handed power in order to be able to restore military rule with the blessing of the people. It’s my ‘opinion’ that the military and the police killed thousands and imprisoned tens of thousands, and performed so-called ‘virginity tests,’ akin to rape, on activists who participated in the revolution that the army claim to have ‘protected.’ It’s my ‘opinion’ that the army insists on the power to try civilians in military courts, although with the current corrupt state of the judiciary, it hardly matters anymore. It’s my ‘opinion’ that the military has become an armed political party and that what’s happening now, as described by General Ahmed Wasfy, is a full-on military coup. It’s my ‘opinion’ that when somebody claims not to seek power and then explains running for president as ‘submitting to the will of the people,’ then he is a liar, a hypocrite, and a swindler. It’s my ‘opinion’ that the army is mostly composed of poor conscripts who believe in God & Country, and who are uneducated enough to also believe what the ‘Generals’ tell them and that they are mostly not innately evil, with the exception of Tantawi’s men, who are more than happy to beat women, strip them, and drag them, and who have now become Sisi’s men. It’s my ‘opinion’ that the real ‘trunk’ of corruption in Egypt now, if not the ‘root’ – is the military council who have ruled Egypt since Mohamed Naguib was placed under house arrest and never seen or heard from again for daring to imagine an Egypt under civil rule. It’s my ‘opinion’ that we’re not doing so well and that your proposed ‘solution’ is a time-bomb.
