Just found out that Brian Haw died 4 days ago. Brian understood a basic moral truth – that an injustice that happens to any of us is an injustice for which we are all guilty. He held a one-man protest in front of parliament since 2001.
One year ago, Khaled Said was murdered by corrupt police officers – but his death has not been forgotten. Police brutality will no longer be tolerated by Egyptians. Today, demonstrations were held on bridges, on beach fronts, and in front of the Egyptian Ministry of the Interior – and Khaled Said’s face was graffiti-ed on the building. The police have to serve the people, otherwise, they’re illegitimate.
